RouteLens Driver App

Delivery Execution & Proof of Delivery

A driver application for route execution, exception handling and proof of delivery, with live progress streaming to dispatch.

  • TypeScript
  • Node.js
  • PostgreSQL
  • Firebase
Abstract mobile route execution layout with ordered stops and status indicators

Overview

Project Overview

RouteLens gives drivers a single screen for the run ahead: ordered stops, navigation handoff, one-tap exception reporting and structured proof of delivery. Dispatch sees progress and estimated arrival in real time, and customers receive accurate notifications automatically instead of a phone call from the office.

Challenge

The Challenge

Dispatch had no visibility into a run until the driver called in, and proof of delivery was a paper sheet photographed at the end of the day.

  • Delivery status was unknown between depot departure and return.

  • Customer arrival estimates were guesses relayed by the office.

  • Paper proof of delivery meant disputes were resolved days later, if at all.

  • Failed deliveries were reported inconsistently, so root causes were invisible.

Solution

What We Built

We designed the app around what a driver can safely do in ten seconds at a doorstep, and streamed everything else to the office automatically.

  • Reduced each stop to a single primary action with structured, tappable outcomes.

  • Captured proof of delivery as a bundled artefact with signature, photo and geotag.

  • Streamed position and progress so dispatch and customer notifications need no phone calls.

  • Queued completions locally so poor coverage never blocks a driver.

  • Standardised exception reasons, making failure causes measurable for the first time.

Capabilities

Key Features

What RouteLens Driver App does in day-to-day use.

  • Ordered run view

The full route as a single sequence, with the next action always the largest thing on screen.

  • One-tap exceptions

Structured reasons for failed or partial delivery, captured in seconds at the door.

  • Proof of delivery

Signature, photo and geotagged timestamp bundled and uploaded per stop.

  • Live ETA streaming

Position and progress stream to dispatch, driving automatic customer notifications.

  • Low-connectivity tolerance

Stop completion is recorded locally and queued when coverage drops.

  • Driver-safe interaction

Large targets, high contrast and minimal typing, designed for use in a vehicle.

Architecture

How It Works

The path a single request takes through the system, end to end.

    PLAN01

    Route assigned

The day's ordered run is dispatched to the driver's device.

    DRIVE02

    Navigate to stop

Handoff to the mapping app with the next stop preloaded.

    DELIVER03

    Complete or except

One-tap outcome with structured reasons for anything unsuccessful.

    PROVE04

    Capture evidence

Signature, photo and geotag bundled and queued for upload.

    STREAM05

    Notify

Progress streams to dispatch and triggers customer updates.

Outcome

Results

What changed for the business after launch.

  • Live

    Run visibility

Dispatch sees progress continuously rather than on driver call-in.

  • 96%

    Deliveries with digital proof

Signature, photo and geotag captured at the point of delivery.

  • −64%

Inbound 'where is my order' calls

    Displaced by automatic customer notifications.

  • 12

    Standardised exception reasons

Making failed-delivery causes measurable and addressable.

Interface

A Closer Look

Screens from the delivered system.

  • Driver run overview screen
The run as one ordered sequence, next action prominent.
  • Proof of delivery capture screen
Proof of delivery bundled per stop with geotag and timestamp.
  • Dispatch live tracking console
Dispatch console with live position and estimated arrival.
